Rubies for July

Thanks to everyone who joined in with Keryn's "Ice and Snow" challenge last week - as always your cards were wonderful and full of inspiration. This week is the first Friday of the new month so we'll be returning to our year-long Birthstones theme for this week's dare.
Before that though we are waving Goodbye to Andrea and Kaz who've been sitting on our "Guest Designer Sofa" for the last few weeks - we've loved having you on the team and we hope you'll come back again for another month soon. Thank you both for being such wonderful inspiration for us all.

We have a new Guest Designer to introduce to you this week, and we're thrilled that she's agreed to play along with us this month. We'd like you to welcome
Ania makes the most fabulous cards and other projects so please don't miss the chance to visit her blog.

The birthstone for July is the
Ruby
Rubies are associated with devotion, integrity, courage, happiness and said to promote vitality, confidence and strength.
It's long been believed that precious stones have healing properties related to them. The Ruby's healing powers are in connection to blood problems and infection, it's considered helpful in increasing positive thought patterns.
Rubies are also thought to enhance energy, generosity and to bring prosperity and success.

Plenty there to get you thinking! - but of course you could simply decide to use beautiful Ruby Red as the predominant colour on your card. It's all up to you, we'd just like you to use Rubies as your inspiration this week and we're all looking forward to seeing your cards.

As usual, leave a comment/link and we'll come and visit to see your creations

Ice and Snow

Hi it's Keryn here.  Thanks to everyone who joined in with our sponsored sketch dare last week.  We really enjoyed seeing the different ways you all used the sketch.  I know you're waiting with bated breath for us to announce the winners.  As we have so many prizes to give away we are going to make you wait a bit longer and announce the winner in a separate blog post.  Don't worry you won't have to wait too long!

Now it's my turn to announce the Dare for the week.  As it's rather cold over in the Southern Hemisphere right now I want you to share in the chill.  Make your cards using the theme of 'Ice and Snow'.  You could showcase winter sports, icy colours or even icy emotions on your card and it would fit the theme beautifully.

Scroll down and see how the design team have interpreted my dare and then create your own masterpiece.  Then leave us a comment with a link so we can go and visit your creation.

A Sponsored Sketch with Prizes

We really enjoyed Seeing the World with you last week, we hope you enjoyed the journey too, Thanks to all who joined in with our tour.

For the last few weeks we've been waiting for today to come around as we were all sent some fabulous stash to play with by

Now, until a few weeks ago "Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker"was a new name to us and maybe to you too, but we think they are set to become much more widely known because the papers and embellishment they produce as just soooo much fun. We'd like you to see for yourself, so we've got lots of prizes of Nikki Sivils stash to give away this week. Did that get your attention? hehe

To begin with, here on the DCM blog we have FIVE prizes to give away.
One of these prizes is being donated by Sarah's Cards, who stock some Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker products
There are rules though, to qualify for our prize draw and here they are:
1. Make a card using the sketch shown below
2. Submit it for NO MORE THAN 3 challenges, including this one
3. Add links to your blog for the Daring Cardmakers, "Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker" and Sarah's Cards

That's all - not too much to remember, eh?

Now, because we were sent so much wonderful stash, the members of the DCM team are feeling very generous too, and we're putting together some goody bags to give away on our personal blogs - so do visit us all to find out more about how to qualify for a share in our good fortune.

Okay, so now you know the rules, and how to be in with a chance of winning, you really need to get started, don't you? Your card needs to follow this sketch - you can twist it, shrink it, turn it upside down if you like - just make sure we can still see the LO in there!
Here you go:
The Design Team have been using the sketch along with lots of the papers and embellishments from "Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker" for our cards this week. We hope you like what we've been making
Please come back and let us know where we can see your card - remember that to qualify for our prizes you need to check you've adhered to those three little rules!
Have fun, and Happy Crafting

The World is Your Oyster

Thank you for making such a wonderful, and such a lonnnnng "string of pearls" for us to admire last week - they really were all so lovely.
This week it's Kathy here with a challenge for you.

The World is Your Oyster
I'd like you to celebrate all the amazing and diverse countries and cultures we have in this world of ours by making cards with a "feel" of any country you like. There's a whole world of possibilities out there, so don't just go for the obvious {wink}
You can take your inspiration from the colours, style, patterns, maybe the food or national costume etc - rather than showing images etc of that place (though you could do that if you wanted).
The Football World Cup starts today, so perhaps if you're desperate (I hate football, but don't let that stop you...hehe) checking out the teams that have reached the finals might give some ideas too.

I wonder Where in the World our journey will take us this week? We're really looking forward to seeing where your card will take us to on the DCM World Tour, so please come back and leave a link for where we can see your card.

Here are some fab ideas from our Designers to get you thinking - see if you can work out which country they have used for their inspiration, then hop over to our personal blogs to see if you're right.

Happy Crafting and Happy Travelling
