Be inspired by "What a Wonderful World"

Hello Everyone, are you ready for a new card-making challenge?  Before we do that, we must thank you if you joined in with Svenja's Elemental challenge last week - what a beautiful picture that was - we loved seeing how you were inspired by it.

It's Kathy here, and for my challenge I'm hoping you'll come with me on a little trip down Memory Lane

Inspired by the song "What a Wonderful World"

My dad introduced me to the Louis Armstrong song "What a Wonderful World"and whenever I hear it I think of him.  He passed on to me the love of Satchmo's voice and this song in particular and this week I'd like you to be inspired by the lyrics when you make your card.  You can use the whole beautiful planet, or maybe choose one or more lines from the song to use
Here are the lyrics for the song, and you can listen to it HERE

"What A Wonderful World"

I see trees of green, red roses too.
I see them bloom, for me and you.
And I think to myself,
What a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue, and clouds of white.
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night.
And I think to myself,
What a wonderful world.

The colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky.
Are also on the faces, of people going by,
I see friends shaking hands.saying, "How do you do?"
They're really saying; "I love you".

I hear babies cry, I watch them grow,
They'll learn much more, than I'll ever know.
And I think to myself,
What a wonderful world.

Yes, I think to myself,
What a wonderful world.

Have fun - and I really hope you'll be singing this great song all day long!

September Elemental Inspiration

Hello everyone!

Thanks to all of you who were inspired by Nat's wonderful woodgrain challenge. It was lovely to see wood in so many different ways and even colours!
We're just delighted to tell you that the fabulous Dianne McInrue is back guesting with us this month - we loved Dianne's cards so much when she designed for us a few months back that we couldn't wait any longer to ask her back! We're sure you'll agree.

Another month has flown by and it's time for our elemental inspiration challenge. Can you believe it's already September?
It's Svenja here and I have decided to try and preserve that summer feeling for just a little longer:

Choose at least three elements from the picture to feature on your card with the colour palette counting as one. No idea what to use yet? Just take a look at the cards the design team have made for some extra inspiration:

(something must have gone wrong with preserving that summer feeling...)

Wonderful Woodgrain

Welcome to our last dare of August!

Goodness me, the month has flown by - thank you to everyone who played along with Svenja's Raspberry and Lime dare last week!

It's Nat here, and this week I'm challenging the design team and you to feature Wonderful Woodgrain patterns on your cards as a focal element.

You can experiment with textures using dry embossing, heat embossing, embossing paste and stencils, or use woodgrain patterns and stamped backgrounds. Whatever you fancy!

To get you started, here are some ideas from the design team:

Raspberry and Lime

Goooood morning crafters!

First of all: a great "thank you" to everyone who let themselves be inspired by Dawn's "room with a view"-challenge. We got to see some very interesting views: wintry, summery, submarine... it was fun!

It's Svenja here and this week I want to try and preserve that summer feeling just a little longer with some mouth-watering fresh & bright colours: use a combo of

raspberry pink and lime green

on your card! Sounds like a bit of an odd couple to you? Not at all - just look at the Design Team's fab creations:

A Room With A View

Hello everyone
Its Dawn here with this weeks dare but first of all I would like to thank everyone that took part in Nat's elemental inspiration challenge last week.  Such a pretty picture and so many elements to choose from.

For my challenge this week and as I live in the beautiful countryside of Brittany in France I would like to see a window or aperture on your card with a picturesque view. So I have called my challenge:
A ROOM WITH A VIEW
This is the view from my front door.

Here's what the DT made to help inspire you this week

August Elemental Inspiration

Hi everyone!

It's the first Friday of a new month, so of course it's time for a brand new elemental inspiration challenge!  But first we've some news for you - we are thrilled to announce that Purvi Gadewar has agreed to join us as a permanent member of our Design Team - well with her clever and inspirational style, we couldn't really let her go, could we?

It's Nat here this time and I've picked this lovely photo as a jumping off point - so many different elements you can incorporate in your cards!
You need to focus on 3 separate elements and the colour scheme counts as one element, so here are a few ideas to get you started:
  • Tiled backgrounds
  • Use lots of different scraps of patterned paper with punches and dies for a background or as bunting and other design elements
  • Organza/ribbon flowers (a la that cream cushion in the photo)
  • Layered stamping featuring florals
  • Embrace a little steampunk or industrial style a la the lamp
  • Plaid and tartans
  • Mandala/geometric circle designs like the leather pouf
  • A little birdie - did you spot him on the light blue rug?
  • Shabby chic and vintage techniques
  • Ephemera accents
  • Beads

Here are some gorgeous card projects from the design team - it's amazing how the same photo can inspire such different looks isn't it? :-D

As always we look forward to seeing your interpretation! Remember to link up your project so we know where to find it.
Happy crafting!
