I am woman

It's Lythan here. As ever we are blown away by all your wonderful contributions. It makes our day to see how creative and ready to be challenged you are!

My theme this week is
I am woman

As its coming up to Mothers day in the UK here’s a chance to make a card that celebrates women and girls . So I’d like to see a card with at least one feminine image on it . And that's it for rules really.
Apart from this one.
And it is sneaky.

No Tildas, Sugar Nellies or Bellas please
. I love them all. But there are loads of great challenges out there using them so for this challenge you can give them a well earned rest!

Plastic Fantastic

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful creations. I'd like to introduce our talented Guest Designer who has agreed to join us for the next fortnight. Regular readers will know her wonderful work from past dares so a huge warm welcome to the lovely Marlou.

This week it's Rhi here to dare you and I'm on a recycling mission. I dare you to look again at the plastic packaging around you and transform it into a brand new card. It could be food packaging, craft packaging or just something plastic that's destined for the bin or recycling. Trim it, die cut it, alcohol ink it, crop-o-dile it, give it a new lease of life then share it via your blog for us all to see. Happy Recycling!

Love and Friendship

Keryn and Rachel are daring you to make a card in the theme of love and friendship for one of the special people in your life. It could be a valentines card, a thankyou for a close friend or a way to propose to the man in your life on the 29th February.

As the resident Stampin' Up! Independent Demonstrators Keryn Campbell (NZ) and Rachel Booth (UK) have supplied Stampin' Up!(R) product and images to the design team to help them in their quest for the perfect 'love and friendship' themed card. Please click on the links above for other specials and offers they have running alongside this dare.

There is no expectation that everyone can or will use Stampin' Up!(R) product in their dare cards but if you can Keryn and Rachel would love to see what you come up with. Keryn and Rachel have provided us with two door prizes (small selections of punchies, ribbon and embellishments) and we will put all cardmakers who join in with this dare into a draw for one of the two prizes. Prizes will be drawn at 9am UK time on Friday 22nd February and announced in the next dare post.

The Daring Cardmakers design team would be pleased to accept sponsorship from and provide advertising space to any papercraft company willing to work with us. Please contact Jane through her blog here.

Look below to see what the design team have come up with using their Stampin' Up!(R) images and product. Joining in with the DCM is easy, just leave a message with a link to your blog or wherever else we can see your card on the comments thread and we'll pop over to see your Love and Friendship cards. Alternatively you can email a photo to our gallery at mailto:daringcardmakers@hotmail.co.uk

Paper Pesto sponsored challenge !

This week dare is an extra special one! Paper Pesto are entirely sponsoring this weeks dare AND providing a spot prize for one of our lucky darer's too!
Paper Pesto distribute specialist paper and craft scrapbooking kits assembled in New Zealand.
We've chosen to work with a template for this dare, and the design team have used papers supplied by Paper Pesto in their January kit. The lucky winner of our Lucky Dip will receive a sample selection of the wonderful January kit as their prize.
These kits are truly gorgeous, and never fail to inspire - so make sure you hop on over to the
Paper Pesto site and check out their beautifully put together kits !

Just before we show the template and let you all get on with making your fab cards, we'd like to welcome Sue Hyde to the Design Team. Sue joined us as a Guest Designer a few weeks ago and was such an asset that we couldn't let her go! Sue's cards are always beautifully designed and full of detail, she can turn her hand to just about any technique and the amount of care and thought she puts into her work is second to none, she's also the sort of person who will take time to answer questions and willingly share her expertise.
Welcome to the Team Sue, it's fab to have you join us "full-time"!

Okay, so here's the tempting template we would like you to follow, and here's some of the design teams cards based on the template using papers and embellishments from the Paper Pesto January kit. Don't forget, there is a gorgeous spot prize up for grabs, the happy winner will be randomly picked and announced once the week is up, so you have till next friday's new dare is announced to show us your card - you got to be in to win as they say!
Remember, there are two ways to share your lovely creations with us and the other darers; leave us a comment including a link to your card or send us a piccy of your card to daringcarmakers@hotmail.co.uk and we can add it to the gallery for all to view.

A Little Extra Doodling..

Hi all, this week's little extra is the first of our little mid week tutorials...

It's Jo here this week to inspire you to add a little penwork to your card;

'One of the quickest, easiest and best of all, cheapest(!) ways to add your own personal touch to a card is to add a doodled border. I love doodling, I am far from being an artist but the most wonderful thing about doodling is that it doesn't have to be perfect, infact, randomness is good :).

This week, I would love your little extra card to be a little doodled border on your card, be it dots, stripes or little faux stitches.'

Black and white pens are two of my craft essentials, I find that a white gel pen is pretty handy to have but don't really use a particular black pen, you could even use a felt tip....

(click on the piccies for a close up view...)

or you could add a striped border for a quick and simple addition to your card; add the border and then trim the shape. This means that the finished shape is nice and neat, inking the edges helps to define the shape too....

but you can of course print or doodle straight on to your card and fill in the gaps with a white pen....

or make a 'faux' stitched border - use a pricking tool to add holes and then join them with a fine black pen....

Have fun and I can't wait to see what you create :).
