Hello and welcome to The Daring Cardmakers blog!
We are a team of card-makers from the UK, mainland Europe and India who'll try to inspire and encourage you to make some wonderful cards.
Every Friday at about 10am UK time, one of our design team will post a new dare/challenge, along with our creations to get you inspired.
So go on, give it a try - we dare you!
Leave us a comment with a link to your card so that we can view your lovely creations too!
"Thank you" to everyone who joined in with Zuz's lovely "thank you" dare last week - we really enjoyed seeing your cards!
This week I thought it was about time we paid a special homage to that very popular design element that is doing the rounds right now.
The Chevron
Or zigzags if you like!
Just make a card featuring chevrons, zigzags, or even a herringbone pattern and share it with us via the Mr Linky thingy. :)
Here are some of the fantastic cards the design team came up with to whet your appetite - don't forget to visit their blogs for more details. We always love reading your comments. :) Happy crafting!
Hi everyone, it's Sharon here with this weeks dare. Firstly, thanks to everyone who joined in with Lythan's choice for our monthly colour combo last week. It was a gorgeous colour palette and we really enjoyed seeing what you all came up with.
This weeks dare is quite simple:
Vellum
If you're like me, you've got a stash of vellum in a drawer somewhere and you don't often think to use it in your creations, so I'd like to see some vellum somewhere on your card.
Here are some ideas from the team to kick start your inspiration:
Thank you for all your lovely bouquets of flowers for Rein's dare last week.
This is the first Friday of September (only three more first Fridays to go until the end of the year!) so it is time for another colour challenge. My husband Phil took some photos the other day and one was of people crabbing in Torquay. (Come to Torbay and you HAVE to go crabbing at some point). I was struck by how the people in his photo had toning coloured clothes on, as if styled for a photo shot, all in muted tones apart from a few pops of colour. Here is the photo
and here is my attempt at a colour palette to match. But feel free to ignore it and take your inspiration directly from the photo
The Design Team have done an amazing job with these colours - as they proved quite a challenge for some of us! Have a look at what they have done (and why not leave a comment on their blogs?!). Then it is over to you. Have fun, and don't forget to come back and share what you've made with us.
Thank you for sharing you creations for our September Colour Combo Challenge. Please leave a comment as well as your link as we do love to hear from you!
