Monogrammatic

1,2,3,4....14, 15, 16.... are you still counting?

Still plenty of time to get your 20/20 cards into our links list - at the time of writing there are 20 cards already there....wonder what the chances are of getting the 2nd 20 before Friday? hmmm

And so to this week's Little Extra:
Initials are BIG news at the moment, so here's your chance to make your mark with a monogram themed card. It can be any letter you like, made in any way - just so long as it's Big and Juicy!

Here are some examples from the DT to whet your appetite and get you thinking.

Leave us a message when you're done and we'll pop by and see what you've done for this mini midweek mayhem.

20/20 Vision

We loved seeing all the cards you showed us for Jane's "In the Fold" dare - such a fantastic variety of cards with folds either in them or on them. Thank you to everyone who took part.
Well this week it's my turn (Kathy) and I'm going to dare you to
use 20/20 Vision for your cards.
I'd like you to use 20 of one particular thing on a card - be it blooms, papers, brads, ribbons the choice is yours - you can use other things too, but there must be 20 of one item/component - not 20 things altogether, that would be much too easy.

For instance, can you use 20 different papers on one card?

20 Ribbons?

Or 20 Blooms - well surely that one sounds easy...

Now if you're really up for a challenge and want to try for TWO lots of 20 - well - then we'd all be really impressed! We're really looking forward to seeing what you come up with for this one, all the info on how to share your creations with us are at the bottom of this message.

As usual the Fabby Design Team didn't swoon at the very thought of the challenge but rose to it magnificently and we have all these great cards to show you - do
n't forget to check out our personal blogs for all the low-down on what we used and how we used it.

2. We also have a gallery ready and waiting for non-blogger's cards. Just email your pictures to daringcardmakers@hotmail.co.uk and as soon as they've been OK'd they'll appear on the gallery. Please remember to add your name, the dare your card is for and your website info if you have one

Oh Boy!!!!!

We're all enjoying a bit of blog-hopping to see all your Creased Creations for Jane's "In the Fold" dare and there's still loads of time to join in if you've not posted yours yet, or maybe you're dithering on the edge, unsure whether to join in or not - don't be scared, come on in, it's fun!

So, who's name came out of the hat for our very first DCM lucky draw, then? Well hang on just a minute while we set our Little Extra mini-challenge.

MEN!
Let's face it, we all have to make them a card sometimes even though most of us find them tricky. We've been kind and not asked you to do a "male" card since Debbie's "ribbon for men" dare, but for this week's Little Extra that's what we'd like you to make - a card with a male in mind. Be it Baby boy, Little boy, Teenage Boy or BIG "boy" - just make him a card and let's see what you've done by leaving a message on this post.
As usual some of the Design Team have made some cards to help get you thinking:

OK?

off you go then!

Oh yes, we knew there was something else.....

And the winner is ....drum roll, please....

ESTHER

Congratulations Esther, if you send an email to the gallery address with your postal info on, we'll get some little packages of goodies on their way to you asap.

In The Fold

Welcome everyone to another daring Friday! It was my turn to set the dare this week (Jane) and I'm daring you to make a card that has to have more than one fold - so it can be a gate fold card, or a 3 panel card with an aperture or a card with multiple folds OR you can incorporate paper folding on the actual card itself. It can be on any theme. Easy eh ?! Aren't I nice to you all! LOL!

Thank you once again to all those who have been joining in the dares, we have really enjoyed seeing your creations. We'll announce the winner of our draw on Tuesday's Little Extra, so don't forget to pop back and see which of our Media theme Darer's name comes out of the hat!

Back in Time #1

We've already seen some fantastic cards for this week's Big Dare - which is to make a card using, or inspired by all that media they keep bombarding us with. Check the Design Team's fab cards below and of course all those from our wonderful DCM Darers linked via the list on the right.
Hopefully there are more cards to come - we all get really excited when we check back and find new links to investigate!

....Oooh and don't forget there are DCM goodies up for grabs for some lucky All Things Media Darer - you've got to enter your link before the New dare goes live on Friday to be in the draw.

Now, for our extra little dare this week we thought it would be fun to step back in time and make a card inspired by a particular decade - so we'd like you to think "the 70s" - remember all that brown and orange wallpaper? Flower Power? Hippy Chicks through to the beginnings of Punk Rock? It was all there - and if you haven't a clue what we're on about - well the internet is a wonderful thing for finding out!
Leave us a message and we'll be there in the blink of an eye to see what you've come up with for this one.
To start you off, Gill has gone Flower Power and acid colours in a big way,
Jo has gone all 70's with brown and orange flowers and poor Keryn is still recovering from the horrors of remembering her old school uniform!

Extra ! Extra ! Read all about it !

Thank you to the team at the Everyone is Speshal blog for a great couple of weeks working on the Valentines themed Scrapbook cards - and a HUGE Thanks to everyone who joined in and shared their fantastic creations with us - we loved seeing them and hope you'll keep playing along with our Dares.

This week at DCMs You are being Dared to make a card that is inspired by 'All Things Media'. The dare has been set by our Gillian:

It's around us no matter which way we turn, and all designed to get our attention. Ads designed by graphic designers who know all the tricks & techniques to draw our eyes to the product in question. You only have to glance at a Newspaper quickly to read headings with 'Shock' titles & 'Clever' puns all designed to make you want to read what the article is all about!
Maybe you have been inspired by an Ad in a magazine, the colours or design that has been used. Or incorporate actual magazines & newspapers onto your card; maybe chop up letters (ransom note style) to create the sentiment

So grab that latest edition of your favourite Mag, or pick up your newspaper, because there is so much inspiration there, Just waiting for you to discover!
Oh! and just one more thing - the name of everyone who makes a card for this week's Dare will be entered into a little draw and the winner will find some goodies winging their way to them with love from the DCM - Good Luck Everyone!

Weather Report

Well, we are completely blown away by the wonderful Scrapbook-style cards you've been sharing with us. There's still plenty of time to join in and we'd all love to see your cards - so please don't be shy - once you've made your card add a message here on our blog and we'll all come and visit as well as adding a link to our ever-growing Links List.

Now then, if you've already finished your card, maybe you're looking for another little challenge to tide you over till Friday - so here you go, our midweek special:
Whether the weather be fine
Or whether the weather be not
Whether the weather be cold
Or whether the weather be hot
We'll weather the weather
Whatever the weather
Whether we like it or not.
This week's Little Extra task is to make a card to reflect the weather or season wherever you live. That's all - easy eh? Here are cards from Keryn and Gill on the sunny side of the world and poor Kathy who's freezing her socks off on the chilly side!

Celebrate the Romance

The Heavy Metal Dare brought another Fabulous record-breaking week with links to 21 cards, thank you to all who joined in, we hope you enjoyed taking part as much as we enjoy visiting your blogs and seeing all your wonderful work.

We promised something special for this week's Dare and here it is:

This week we're joining forces with the wonderful team of Scrapbookers over on the Everyone is Speshal blog. We're daring each other and you to make a Really Romantic Scrapbook Layout - but on a card!
Scrapbookers are challenged to downsize your usual a 12x12 LO onto a teenyweeny one - maximum of 6x6, which can be sent safely through the mail. Cardmakers - you're used to working on a small space, and you know all about the ribbons, brads and other bits and bobs - but can you take on board all the other little touches that are used on a scrapbook page - the titles, the journalling, the photographs etc?

Is the Valentine's Card you make for your OH usually the last minute, hurried one you make when all your orders are done and you've stocked whatever sales outlets you have, or maybe you're a naughty naughty scrapbooker who actually goes out and - shock horror, BUYS your Loved One's card?

Well make this year different, try our Dare and stun your Beloved with your creative excellence - make their eyes pop out with pride, or tears stream because you made something special just for them.

And there's no excuse not to join in if you've no Significant Other right at this minute, because you can make the card you'd be wowed to receive - or love to send. We all have Special Moments and Special People in our lives so join with the DCM and the Speshal Team and let's Celebrate the Romance.

This week you have lots of cards to look at for inspiration below are those from the DCM, but don't forget to pop over later today and check out the
Everyone is Speshal Blog to see how they rose to this lovey-dovey challenge!

Don't forget - we love to see your cards and all the info on how to join in with the fun is at the bottom of this post.

Right, Are you ready? Go Create! We Dare You.
