Hello and welcome to The Daring Cardmakers blog!
We are a team of card-makers from the UK, mainland Europe and India who'll try to inspire and encourage you to make some wonderful cards.
Every Friday at about 10am UK time, one of our design team will post a new dare/challenge, along with our creations to get you inspired.
So go on, give it a try - we dare you!
Leave us a comment with a link to your card so that we can view your lovely creations too!
Thank you for joining in with last week's paper weaving dare. From this week onwards we've got a guest designer joining us so please give a big welcome back to Daring Cardmakers to Lynne! If you're a long-time follower of the Daring Cardmakers, you'll remember Lynne (aka TartanLass) as she was a DT member until "real life" got in the way - we're absolutely thrilled to have her back with us for a while and we know you'll love seeing her around here.
It's Leo here bringing you the next dare and this week we're.....
Going for gold
I'd like you to use just metallic gold and white to create your card. Think of all the different gold materials you could use, gold paint, gold ink, gold glitter, gold leaf, anything you can think of, so long as it's gold!
Take a look at all the striking cards the design team have created to get you started and if you have a go don't forget to leave a link to show us what you've made.
Thanks for taking part in our "Funky
Christmas“challenge last week. It’s great to see how versatile Christmas paper
can be. We'll be along soon to let you know who will be downloading BOTH of those gorgeous Funky Hand Christmas collections very soon!
It's me, Miri, here this week to set the challenge
Let’s weave!
I always liked to do paper weaving and I
remember one year when I was still in kindergarten, we had an advent
calendar consisting of 24 woven heart baskets filled with delicious chocolates.
So I thought we'd see how we could use weaving techniques on our cards
I'd like you to do some kind of weaving for your cards this week - let's proove that weaving is still beautiful and fun, and not at all old
fashioned.
Use anything you like for your weaving; paper, washi tape, ribbon, wool - even a mixture of media - we are really looking forward to seeing where you go with our challenge this week
Here are some ideas from
the Design Team to get you inspired.
Well! What a wonderful array of cards you shared last week. Sometimes it seems as though we're so busy making cards for Birthdays, and now for Christmas that we forget all the other things we can make and send a card for - it was really lovely to see so many cards for all those "other reasons".
This week we're going to be greedy and ask you to make not one, but TWO projects - this is because
So we've all made 2 projects this week and that's what we'd like you to do too. We'd like one
to be a Christmas card and the other to be "something else" - you could
make your second project a birthday card, a tag, a gift box or another sort of greetings card -
that bit is up to you - but we'd like you to use your Christmas stash
for both!
Funky Hand are giving one lucky winner a wonderful prize of both these gorgeous downloads, but not only that - just to add to the fun, and to give you the chance to try out using Funky Hand downloads we have a freebie designer paper (which matches the Silent Night set) for you to
download and hopefully use on one or both of your projects. Click HERE to find the Funky Freebie
Our prize will go to one lucky person, drawn at random after the closing date (10am UK time Friday 22nd Nov.)
The rules are simple

All the Other Reasons.....
We make loads of birthday cards, don't we? And now the Christmas card-making is under-way too, so before we really get swamped with Christmas crafting, this week we thought we'd focus on all
those other reasons and occasions for making and sending a card.
Thank You, Hello, Anniversary, Sympathy, Bah Mitzvah, Christening.... -
anything really, as long as it's not a Christmas or Birthday card.

Sadly, our anniversary month is now over, and this week's challenge is the first one of our eighth year - and we're looking forward to bringing you lots more inspiring challenges and seeing lots more of your wonderful cards. It's the first Friday of the month, so it’s time for
a new colour combination dare.
I, Miri, picked this month’s colours:
Let’s see what you’ll come up with using this
versatile colour combination.
(Maybe it’s even an opportunity for the lucky
anniversary dare winners to use their new products?!)
