Hello and welcome to The Daring Cardmakers blog!
We are a team of card-makers from the UK, mainland Europe and India who'll try to inspire and encourage you to make some wonderful cards.
Every Friday at about 10am UK time, one of our design team will post a new dare/challenge, along with our creations to get you inspired.
So go on, give it a try - we dare you!
Leave us a comment with a link to your card so that we can view your lovely creations too!
It's Ruth here to set the challenge this week, buyt before I tell you what it is, we'd like to thank you so much for joining in and sharing your cards for Kathy's challenge, based on the Louis Armstrong song "What a Wonderful World" - What a Wonderful array of cards we got to see!
We are well into the Wedding Season now, so let's have a bit of romance this week! I'd like you to make and share cards with a theme of
Weddings and Anniversaries.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what you make!
Here are some from the design team to get everyone in the mood
Thank you so much for joining in with Joanne's challenge last week - it was such a good reminder that card bases don't have to be white! What a lovely array of cards we saw.
It's Kathy here this time, and I'd love for you to use one of my all-time favourite songs to inspire your card-making, it's
Sometimes we need to remind ourselves to
cherish the wonderful world we live in. I inherited a love of this song
from my dad and I'd love you to choose something from the lyrics to use on your card, or maybe you'll try to encapsulate the whole thing!
Don't forget to click on the link so you can sing along with Louis! I can't wait to see what you come up with
What a Wonderful World
I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
The colours of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you
I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll never know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world
Songwriters: George Douglas / George David Weiss / Bob Thiele
Thanks for going tropical with us in Shabneez's dare last week - our weather in the Northern hemisphere may not be quite up to tropical standard but at least we saw some lovely sunny creations!
It's Joanne here with this week's challenge and I'd like to see you using
ABW - Anything But White!
Using white as a card base is a really easy habit to slip into so I'd like to see what else you can come up with. It could be a chalkboard technique on black cardstock, metallic or opaque embossing powder on a coloured base, coloured pencils on kraft or something like the Joseph's Coat technique.
What will you decide on to make your base other than white? Here's what the team came up with:
(and also... we spend way too little time by the sea)

It's Shabneez here and I'd like to thank you for joining in with Sveja's June Elemental Challenge last week. Unfortunately I wasn't well so could take part.
Following on with Svenja's summer theme I decided to carry on along the same lines by going
Totally Tropical!
So I'd like to see you use bold, bright colours, flowers, fruit, animals, birds and anything else you can think of associated with my tropical theme. Take a look at all this inspiration:
Wasn't last week's challenge lovely with all those flowers? I definitely enjoyed it - so colourful!
It's Svenja here and this week we'll be taking matters from spring to summer (yay!). It's a new month and therefore - of course - we have an inspirational picture for you (mostly from last year's summer hols in Portugal... wish I were there...).So, here it comes:
Please use at least 3 elements on your cards
(colours count as 1 element).
And - of course - we have also prepared some extra inspiraton for you. Here's what the Design-Team members made for you:
